MTO-Approved BDE Online Course Overview
Course Structure:
- 20 hours of Online Classes (e-learning)
- 10 hours of HomeLink (homework assignments)
- 10 hours of In-Car Training (Free Pick-Up & Drop-Off in Mississauga)
Course Requirements:
- Completion Certificate issued upon successful completion:
- 70% or higher on the Online BDE Course
- Passing grade on the road assessment test
- Proof of course completion is provided by Service Ontario after successful completion.
Important Policies:
- Online Course Security: Students are responsible for protecting their login credentials for the online portion.
- In-Car Lessons:
- Each in-car session is 60 minutes.
- Rescheduling or cancelling must be done 24 hours in advance; otherwise, the lesson fee will be charged.
- Driver’s License Requirement: Students must bring their driver’s license to the in-car lesson; failure to do so will result in the one-lesson fee being charged and no in-car lesson on that day.
Additional Benefits:
- G2 Road Test Eligibility Reduction: Completing this course reduces the waiting period for the G2 road test from 12 months to 8 months.
- Insurance Discount: BDE certificate holders may be eligible for an insurance discount.
- Road Test Preparation included.
- In-car lessons may begin after completing 30 hours of online classes.
Payment Plan:
- Start with $200 to enroll in the program.
- Additional in-car lessons can be added for an extra charge.
Course Duration:
- All components must be completed within one year from the start date.
- In-car Lessons will start after completing the Online portion ( MTO 2025 REVISED RULES ).
